Apple and Alphabet have reached a deal that will have Google Gemini powering Siri's artificial intelligence capabilities.

Apple (AAPL.O) will use Google's Gemini models for its revamped Siri coming later this year under a ‌multi-year deal that deepens the tech giants' alliance in the artificial intelligence era and bolsters Alphabet's position in the race against OpenAI.

Apple plans to use Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence model to power its updated version of Siri, which is set to launch later this year, the two companies announced Monday.

Apple and Google have confirmed reports that it will use Google Gemini’s models to help it power the new version of Siri and other generative AI features. CNBC first reported the news; Apple and Google subsequently released a joint statement which reads: “Apple and Google have entered into a multi-year collaboration under which the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on Google's Gemini models and cloud technology.
